Diagnosing the Issue
Our experienced plumbing technician Michael found the water heater throwing an ignition failure code, preventing it from producing hot water. This was a clear sign of a bigger problem. Michael began a thorough diagnostics check of the water heater to pinpoint the cause of the failure. He soon discovered that the condensation line was backed up, causing the heat exchanger to fill with water. This blockage was preventing the water heater from igniting the flame necessary to heat the water.
Further inspection revealed that the existing condensation line was made of copper and was nearly level, causing water to settle within the line instead of flowing out like it should. This line was routed to the washing machine box, which further contributed to the backup.
