Julie, a homeowner in Decatur, posted a unique request on the local Facebook group The Southern Schmooze that caught our attention. She and her husband were searching for a plumber to transform the bathrooms in their home using vintage plumbing fixtures they had acquired while visiting Boston, and we were eager to take on this exciting challenge.
Julie’s original post was captivating, describing her vision to breathe new life into her Decatur home with vintage fixtures. We understood that this job required a master plumber with experience in handling old fixtures, and we were thrilled to be the chosen team for this one-of-a-kind bathroom restoration.
The fixtures, re-nickeled and fitted by a Boston-based master plumber, were unique, beautiful, and guaranteed to work. The project included five sinks, two toilets, a regular shower, a second tub fitting, and a needle shower – all intended to breathe new life into the family’s home.
Fix & Flow Plumbing stepped up to the challenge, led by our experienced master plumber, Anthony Thompson. The scope of work involved multiple areas of the house, and each required a unique approach, showcasing the complexity of the project.
In the boys’ bathroom, a significant part of the job was to install new supply valves, secure the shower arm and head, and place the brass waste and overflow assembly on the tub, among other tasks. The vanity installation required careful leveling and bolting of the lavatory sink to the wall through the tile.
The powder room needed a complete internal rebuild of the toilet and new water supply valves for the toilet and lavatory sink, requiring careful installation through the floor into the crawlspace.
The master bathroom presented another level of complexity. It required the installation of five new water supply valves, two lavatory sinks, hot and cold-water supply lines that needed to be bent and shaped to fit the faucets, a shower valve assembly, and a tub valve assembly, among other things.
After the completion of the project, Julie was overjoyed with the result. In a testimonial on the same Facebook group where she first sought help, she wrote:
“The end result was better than we expected. The communication, professionalism, care for our floors and belongings, and attention to detail were phenomenal. The lead master plumber, Anthony, was so patient and had immense attention to detail. He made time to ensure we understood the process…He made sure our fixtures were even with each other, level, and perfect – no matter the frustration. He knew where to get hard-to-find parts. He even cleaned the fixtures and work areas before he left…Your job will be right and the experience will be everything you hoped for.”
At Fix & Flow Plumbing, we cherish such positive feedback and it reaffirms our dedication to providing superior plumbing services. This project, with its unique demands and detailed execution, is just one example of how we go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction for both ordinary and extraordinary plumbing tasks.
