At Fix & Flow Plumbing, we understand that plumbing issues can be frustrating, especially when you’ve had repairs done by other companies that didn’t meet code or failed to resolve the problem. This serves as a poignant reminder of our commitment to getting it right the first time. Regrettably, we encounter this too often, as was the case during a recent sewer repair job for the Brooks’ home in Atlanta’s Poncey Highlands neighborhood.
Our service technician, Chad Stephens, was called to Mr. Brooks’ residence due to recurring issues with the sewer line, which had been replaced by a different plumbing company just six months earlier. Upon arrival, Chad noted that the main sewer line was backing up, with sewage overflowing from the outdoor clean-out.
Using our hydro jetting equipment, Chad managed to clear a blockage in the sewer line about 20 feet in. A subsequent video inspection revealed a separation in the recently-installed sewer line and roots growing into the line near the street tap. Chad recommended a repair of the separation and high-pressure water jet cleaning to remove the roots, followed by root treatment.
Armed with a clear understanding of the problem, our team set out to address the issues. With careful consideration for the property’s landscaping, the team dug six feet down to the problematic section of the sewer line. We discovered a significant flaw in the previous plumber’s work: the use of a 3″ PVC pipe inside a 4″ pipe, a setup not only against code but also a trap for paper and debris causing the backup.
We removed the incorrectly installed pipe and connected the 4″ PVC pipe directly to the existing 6″ concrete pipe. After the repair, we tested the sewer line to ensure it was functioning properly. We then proceeded to perform the high-pressure water jet cleaning to remove the intrusive roots and applied a root treatment. We also installed a meter box access for the clean-out. Once the work was complete, we replanted the landscaping and spread pine straw, restoring the yard to its original condition.
Fix & Flow’s commitment to superior service and meticulous attention to detail is reflected in Mr. Brooks’ testimonial:
“Fix & Flow are the most professional and thorough of the many plumbers I’ve hired over the years. We used them for a sewer line replacement and they worked in our yard and landscaping as if it were their own home. All staff I interacted with were courteous and professional, I’ll use them for all of my future plumbing needs and recommend them to anyone needing a quality plumbing company!”
This project illustrates the Fix & Flow difference: exceptional craftsmanship, a problem-solving approach, and an unwavering commitment to our customers and their homes.
