In the bustling neighborhood of Midtown Atlanta, Tom presented an interesting challenge for the Fix & Flow team. He wanted to replace an outdated and non-compliant water heater with a modern, efficient unit. Knowing that the old water heater could pose a serious safety concern to his house, Tom called Fix & Flow to find a solution.
Our master plumber Anthony Thompson went to Tom’s home, and after inspecting the unit, he discovered the old water heater was not only inefficient but also not up to current building codes. The 1980s water heater was housed in a compact closet, which posed a significant challenge for fitting a new unit. Recognizing this, Anthony recommended the AO-Smith GCB-40 gallon water heater for a replacement. At just 18 inches wide, this unit would be an ideal fit. But Anthony’s work wasn’t limited to a mere swap-out; the job required a creative solution to modernize the entire setup.
Anthony and his team approached this project with meticulous attention to detail and optimal performance in mind. Our team provided all necessary parts and labor to seamlessly remove and dispose of the old water heater before installing the new one. To ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency, our team renovated the gas supply line to the new unit and installed a new gas isolation valve. Anthony also fitted a new ball isolation valve and a thermal expansion tank to enhance the system’s safety, longevity and performance. To top it off, Anthony took special care in repiping the vent line, making sure it would align with the new unit.
The new AO-Smith 40 gallon water heater came with a comprehensive warranty, a two-year parts warranty and an impressive six-year tank warranty, providing Tom with peace of mind and assurance of long-term reliability.
Tom was more than pleased with the outcome, he shared his experience on Google:
“Anthony came to replace my water heater and revamp the setup (not to code from the 80s). He was super professional and gave me a very reasonable quote compared to others in the area. He did an amazing job and I am very happy with the high quality work! Will definitely be using Fix and Flow for all future jobs.”
